JEKYLL ISLAND CLUB RESORT - Feb 12 -14, 2019

Starting at $655 pp

Jekyll Island Club Resort is located just off the coast of Georgia, once a retreat for only the ultra-wealthy. Join us as we experience the history, grandeur and awe-inspiring landscaping of the grounds around the Club and its private cottages. Enjoy the splendid history and elegance of the 19th century elite everywhere you visit, both inside and out. Fun and adventure await!

Day 1 On our first day we travel to Jekyll Island, with a stop along the way for lunch.  Upon arrival your luxurious, period-furnished room awaits. You will have time to explore the Resort including its lush, manicured grounds or just curl up with your favorite book in one of the many fireplaced libraries. Dinner in the Grand Dining Room tonight will be a memorable experience, where candlelight and soft music complete the old-world ambiance!

DAY 2 After breakfast, we head for St. Simons Island with its breathtaking beaches, fascinating museums and unique shopping along its charming streets, lined with stately moss-draped oak trees. It’s no wonder USA TODAY named St. Simons Island on its list of Best Coastal Small Towns!  Upon arrival, we will hop on board the St. Simons Trolley. You’ll enjoy this informative and entertaining tour, riding in a vintage 1930s trolley, which takes you to all the island’s historic sites. Along the way, see if you can spot all seven tree spirit locations.  Afterwards, you will have time for exploring, shopping and lunch on your own before we return to Jekyll Island for some free time.

Perhaps you will decide to search for handmade one-of-a-kind glass globes hidden around Jekyll Island. These globes represent the hollow glass floats that in the early 1900s east coast fishermen used on their nets as marketers. Occasionally, the floats would break loose and wash ashore. We will even give you a map to help you locate them. If you discover one, these island treasures are finders keepers! Or, you can take advantage of the Jekyll Resort history tour that provides fascinating information on the wealthy families that founded the resort, their fabled guests and the past times they enjoyed.

Later we take a guided tram tour of the island and step back in time as each historic building’s story unfolds, and the Jekyll Island Club and the National Landmark Historic District comes alive.

Dinner this evening, at the Wharf Restaurant located on the pier overlooking the intracoastal waterway and offering spectacular views of Jekyll Islands best sunsets, is on your own. The Wharf
Restaurant features a menu centered around Southern favorites.

DAY 3 After breakfast, we will visit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center before heading home. The Center is Georgia’s only hospital for turtle treatment, research and rehabilitation. You can explore the lives of sea turtles and other native animals through their exhibits. Glimpse into the hospital where sea turtles are treated and see their turtle patients in the rehabilitation pavilion.

We will stop for lunch, on your own, and arrive back late afternoon.
