Day 2 Breakfast is included at each hotel during your Route 66 adventure! Enjoy a full day of exploration in Chicago, known as the “Windy City.” Discover the extravagant shopping district known as the Magnificent Mile before crossing over the Chicago River to the downtown core, known as the Loop. The Loop is the historical center of Chicago and here you will find the Sears Tower, Grant Park, Millennium Park, and Navy Pier.  Following lunch at your leisure, you will continue your tour with a visit of Lincoln Park, the go-to district for those who appreciate fine art and design, before ending at the start of Route 66. Don’t miss you chance for a photo op at the Rte. 66 sign at the Russian Tea Time Restaurant. Dinner at leisure. B

Day 3 After breakfast, begin your journey on the world-famous Route 66. At McLean, stop at the Dixie Truckers Home, a truck stop built in 1928, open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year!  Along the way, we’ll stop at iconic Rte. 66 legacies like the Dwight Texaco Gas Station (18 cents a gallon!), Funks Grove Drive Maple Sugar Trees, and the Hot Dog Man. We’ll continue the drive on toward the city of Springfield, founded by trappers and traders in 1818 and capital of the state of Illinois since 1837. Here you’ll enjoy a guided excursion of the Abraham Lincoln House and Museum in Springfield. After some free time for lunch we’ll continue our journey along Route 66 to our downtown hotel in Saint Louis. Enjoy dinner at your leisure, but we do recommend checking out one of the blues clubs that thrive in the center of St Louis. B

Day 4 Depart on a morning guided excursion of Saint Louis. Just south of the Missouri-Mississippi river junction, Saint Louis has long been a major river port, railroad hub, and industrial center. Take the tram to the center of Gateway Arch. The 192m high stainless-steel arch, commemorating westward expansion, is part of the Jefferson National Memorial and symbol of the city. Relax with lunch at your leisure before leaving St. Louis and traveling onward to the Ozarks and the lively American musical mecca of Branson. Dinner is included this evening. B D

Day 5 Today we travel through eastern Oklahoma along the scenic stretch of road known as the Will Rogers Highway.  Along the way we’ll stop at plenty of Rte. 66 attractions in Joplin and Galena. In Claremore we stop at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum dedicated to this famous “Wild West” American performer.  Continue onto Oklahoma City and our downtown hotel. Dinner at leisure. B

Day 6 Begin the morning at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum to experience the legacy of the American West. With more than 28,000 Western and American Indian art works and artifacts, including works by artists such as Charles Russell and Frederic Remington, it is home to one of the most comprehensive collections of Western art in the world. The museum complex also contains Prosperity Junction, a turn-of-the-century western town reproduction, with a gallery dedicated to western performers, the American cowboy, and rodeos. Afternoon is free to discover the historic Stockyards, a great place to purchase all things Western. New cowboy boots anyone? Steak dinner included this evening. B D

Day 7 Continuing our journey, we stop in the town of Clinton for the ultimate Route 66 experience. The Oklahoma Route 66 Museum offers visitors a personal journey through the history of the nation's most revered highway. Encounter the iconic ideas, images, and myths of the Mother Road. Learn about the dreams and the labor needed to make the road a reality. Experience the Dust Bowl as thousands streamed along the road, away from drought and despair, and towards the "land of promise." Listen to the sounds of the Big Band era, when the roar of the big trucks and the welcome home cries to returning soldiers dominated the road. Sit at the counter or a booth in the 1950s diner and feel the open road as America's families vacationed along the length of Route 66.

We then cross into the Texas Panhandle and return to Old Route 66 for a scenic drive with stops at Texahoma Ghost Town and the Art Deco Station Shamrock TX before arriving in Amarillo, known as the “yellow rose of Texas.” Dinner is included this evening. B D

Day 8 You’ve probably seen them on TV, now experience them in person: 10 classic Cadillac Cars buried nose down in the ground at the famed Cadillac Ranch pop art installation just outside of Amarillo. Stop for lunch in Tucumcari, where a large number of vintage motels and restaurants built in the 1930s to the 1950s are still in business. Travel on to Albuquerque NM for the night with dinner on your own in the historic district. B

Day 9 Early morning start as we head to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta for the morning Mass Ascension.  Witness literally 100s of hot air balloons of many colors, shapes and sizes filling the big blue New Mexico sky.  Experience this most photographed event on earth and walk among the balloons as they prepare for flight. Enjoy the many shopping and food vendors onsite and even take a balloon flight yourself!  The rest of the day is free in Albuquerque historic district. B

Day 10 Depart Albuquerque in the morning and drive toward the Grand Canyon. This superb geological phenomenon will most certainly be one of the highlights of your trip. After lunch at your leisure, embark on a walk along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. A result of millions of years of wind and water erosion, and an endless expanse of shapes, colors and impenetrable shadow, the Grand Canyon is one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring wonders in the world.  Overnight at the Grand Canyon South Rim in the actual National Park. B

Day 11 Full day at leisure at the South Rim Grand Canyon. Take advantage of the National Park Service free shuttle that will take you to all the best viewing points.

Day 12 Continue along the famed Route 66 to Las Vegas. Stop in Seligman and meet Angel Delgado, “Ambassador of Rte. 66,” who will delight you with his local stories and experiences throughout the years on the route. Then continue to the gaming capital of the world, Las Vegas, via the new Hoover Dam bridge offering great views of the dam. Indulge in an afternoon and evening at leisure in the iconic Sin City. Famed for its buzzing energy, 24-hour casinos and endless entertainment options, you will have ample time to explore the 4-mile-long Strip and all it has to offer. On own for dinner.

Day 13 Depart Las Vegas for Los Angeles in the morning. You will travel over several superb stretches of the Southwest to arrive in Calico, a Far West town named for the surrounding multi-colored mountains. Enjoy a visit of this typical silver-mining town that boomed after the discovery of silver in the foothills in 1881. Restored by the Knott family in the 1950s, the town was opened to the public as a ghost town. With a welcome by cowboys and sheriffs in old-style outfits, you will feel like you are going back to the Far West of the 1880s. Continue your journey toward Los Angeles, a sprawling Southern California city famed as the center of the nation’s film and television industry. Check into your hotel and enjoy an included dinner. B D

Day 14 Start the day with a guided tour of Los Angeles, during which your guide will point out the countless film locations in the city. Starting in downtown, you will see the business district and the Mexican quarter before making a stop at the Walt Disney Concert Hall followed by a visit to Griffith Park Observatory, where you will be able to enjoy a panoramic view of Los Angeles. Finish the morning in Hollywood with a walk down Hollywood Boulevard where you will find the legendary Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, complete with the handprints of famous stars in the cement. After lunch we continue to exclusive Rodeo Drive followed by a visit to nearby Santa Monica for an included farewell dinner. Walk along the boardwalk and do some shopping before ending at the official finish of Rte. 66 located at the end of Santa Monica Pier. B D
